Rethink Tobacco Indiana works specifically with mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities. Some of the types of settings we work with include community mental health centers (CMHCs), substance abuse treatment facilities, detox facilities, psychiatric hospitals, and recovery residences. However, we are open to working with other systems or providers that deliver mental health/addiction services.
There is no cost for services provided by the staff of Rethink Tobacco Indiana. Services include, but are not limited to, tobacco treatment integration technical assistance, education and trainings for staff members and providers, and more!
No, we do not work directly with an organization’s patients on their tobacco dependence or addiction but rather, we provide training and education to staff and providers to enhance their skills when working with their own patients to address their tobacco use.
We understand that time is very valuable, and your priority is to address the primary concern of the patient. Organizations differ in size, staff members, and resources, therefore each entity may have a different goal when working with us. We typically begin our work with an assessment of the organization and then develop a unique tobacco education plan which can be tailored to meet certain timelines/deadlines.
Unfortunately, since Rethink Tobacco Indiana functions off grant dollars, we do not provide free NRT products. While we are not able to provide NRT, the Indiana Tobacco Quitline does offer two weeks of free NRT to eligible individuals.
Yes! We can review and revise existing tobacco-grounds policies and we’re capable of developing new tobacco-free grounds policies from scratch.
We are happy to help any organization that we can! We encourage you to contact us and we’ll determine how we can provide services to your organization or refer you to one of our wonderful partners!
The Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Core Training is an intensive 4-day, in-person, evidence-based training program. The program is designed for persons who deliver tobacco treatment services within a health care or community setting. The evidence-based curriculum has been adopted from the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMass) and is designed to address a set of core competencies defined by the Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence. Upon successful completion of the training program, participants may apply for the National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCTTP).
Due to the intensity and requirements of UMass, the TTS core training is offered at an additional cost to participants.
The Tobacco Treatment Specialist Core Training will be offered to the public around the state of Indiana twice a year, pending grant funding from the Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Commission. Organizations who are interested in having a company-specific closed training may contact Rethink Tobacco Indiana staff for further details.
